During the July 7 board meeting, the Kershaw County School Board approved several administrative recommendations including naming Cynthia Jowers as the new director of student services, Kristi Brown as the new assistant principal of Wateree Elementary, and Reagan Payseur as the new assistant principal of Midway Elementary.

Families of returning Kershaw County School District students—including families who completed their pre-kindergarten or kindergarten students’ initial enrollment this spring—will receive an email with their students’ registration codes and instructions to complete the online registration process on Monday, July 6.

Four- and five-year-old kindergartners will once again begin school on a staggered start schedule for the 2026-2027 school year. Under Act 114 of 2024, Kershaw County School District is implementing an innovative approach to helping students adjust to difficult transition years with a 2026-2027 school calendar that provides a staggered start for four- and five-year-old kindergarten students.

This summer, students are encouraged to Go Wild with books through KCSD and the Kershaw County Library! Complete your summer reading challenge, return your log to school in August for a KCSD reading reward, and join the library for even more summer fun. Elementary and middle school students can earn a free book, and high school students can join the teen summer reading challenge and join fun programming at KCL.
